The journey began in 2016, just south of Launceston, Tasmania, at the Glen Ireh estate in Perth. Friends Adam Pinkard and Adam Saunders united to turn a whisky dream into a reality with a functioning single malt whisky distillery. Fueled by a shared vision, ambition, and innovation, the Adams embarked on a whisky exploration adventure.

The Tasmanian craft whisky community was a wellspring of knowledge, with experienced distillers eager to share their insights and experiences. This camaraderie inspired the Adams to further their goal of establishing a prominent craft whisky enterprise at Glen Ireh. With Professor Bernie’s addition to the team, they broadened their spirit selection to include dry gin and navy strength turbo gin.

Tragedy hit in February 2021 when a fire ravaged the distillery, reducing it to ashes and shattered dreams. Miraculously, the aging whisky stocks remained unscathed. Bolstered by new investors, the team pledged to rebuild, their determination reinforced when Adams Peated Port Slosh cask earned the title of best Australian single cask malt at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards, among other accolades and medals at the World Whiskies Awards, World Gin Awards, and a mention in the esteemed Jim Murray Whisky Bible.

Adams Distillery has triumphantly emerged from the ashes, embarking on a new chapter with invigorated energy and a vision to broaden its range of premium craft whiskies, gins, and other spirits, now available across Australia and in select international markets.
